Tapeworm is a parasite that infects the digestive system and commonly attacks humans and animals

This worm is shaped like a ribbon with a length of about 10 cm to 60 cm and has a segmented body structure with each segment containing eggs.

Source of Infection

The main source of tapeworm infection is through the eggs of the tapeworm (cysticercoid) present in the lice that the cat eats. Eggs then hatch in the intestine to then grow into adult tapeworms.

• Tapeworm eggs can also enter the body when a cat licks or wounds (claws) itself.
• Cats can also swallow tapeworms when eating raw meat, raw fish, and dead animals.
• Cats can also be infected with tapeworms during treatment sessions.

Type

Tapeworm infection in cats is not a serious problem. This infection causes loss of appetite, energy loss, diarrhea, and anemia.

Prevention and Treatment
